Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s brother Tobi has sent him a get well soon message on Instagram after his latest injury setback.
The veteran midfielder suffered medial collateral ligament damage during training with Germany on Monday and it is being widely reported that he could miss the rest of the season.
Schweinsteiger, 31, spent the best part of two months sidelined for Manchester United with a knee injury he sustained against Sheffield United and had only recently returned but it looks like his injury woes have come back immediately.
Writing on Instagram, Tobi said: “Get well little brother! You’ll certainly come back … as always!
Tobi has always been a huge Man United fan and has visited Old Trafford numerous times this season to watch his brother play, so he’ll be just as disappointed as a fan as he is a brother.
I think too many people underestimate how much of an influence Schweinsteiger is for us when he plays. He’s the best leader we’ve got in that squad and without him I worry we’ll see far too much of Marouane Fellaini.
I’m crossing my fingers that his injury isn’t too serious but the initial diagnosis and reaction suggests Schweinsteiger could even miss Euro 2016.
