Ibrahimovic is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season and he has confirmed that he will be leaving the French club.
Mino Raiola, Ibrahimovic’s agent, recently revealed that his client would be open to a Premier League move, with Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal all reportedly interested in his services. Mata believes the 34-year-old is a “very good player”.
“I don’t know what he is going to do, whether he is going to stay there or not,” Mata said.
“Maybe he will try a new chapter in his long career. He is probably the best in Sweden’s history for what he represents.
“He has played in so many countries and leagues and won trophies everywhere. That speaks about his quality as a player and his importance for PSG and in the national team where he is a captain. He is a very good player and I like to play with very good players. Every player would be happy to play with him.”
There are question marks over whether or not Ibrahimovic is past his peak but he is a proven winner and leader, something United have lacked this term.
His arrival at Old Trafford could prove to a big coup for the club; with Ibrahimovic up top, the fear factor that United have missed in recent years could return.
