Manchester United have identified Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their No.1 transfer target this summer and have already sounded out the striker’s representatives over a transfer, according to The Mirror.
Gabon international Aubameyang has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe this season, scoring 36 goals in 38 appearances over the course of the campaign.
Arsenal were interested in the player but were eventually put off by Dortmund’s £60m asking price.
However, that has not deterred Man United, who are ready to pay the fee for Aubameyang and give him a wage packet worth £200,000-a-week.
Marcus Rashford has put in some encouraging performances up top for United in recent weeks but it is clear that the club must sign an established, world-class player if they are to return to the upper echelon of world football.
Aubameyang would certainly go a long way to filling that void but it remains to be seen if he can be convinced to move to Old Trafford if United miss out on Champions League qualification.
