Morgan Schneiderlin has called on his teammates to make sure Manchester United beat Everton next weekend after success in the Manchester derby.
Man United’s 1-0 win over City at the Etihad was a brilliant result which keeps our chase for the top four alive but now we’ve got to kick on starting with Everton at Old Trafford after the international break.
Too many times this season there have been false dawns where United have followed up an excellent result with a disappointing one, such as beating Liverpool away before losing at home to Southampton, and Schneiderlin is keen to avoid a repeat of that cycle.
“We must make sure we win the game against Everton”, he told MUTV.
“We have some time to recover and to enjoy this victory with the international break but, against Everton, it will be even bigger than Sunday because if we want to do something [in the league] we need to confirm it with another win.”
Schneiderlin is absolutely spot on. I’ve had enough of these false dawns this season. We’ve been far too inconsistent which is why we’re out of the Premier League title race already but we somehow still have an opportunity to squeeze into the top four.
The Frenchman should be in our starting XI for every game from now on following another dominant performance against City but the whole team needs to take that momentum from winning the derby and carry it forward. If we can, then we’ve got every chance of sneaking into the Champions League spots.
