Joel Castro Pereira reveals players don’t discuss Louis van Gaal situation

Joel Castro Pereira has insisted that the speculation surrounding Louis van Gaal is not a topic of discussion in the dressing room at Manchester United.

Van Gaal has come under huge pressure at Man United this term following a string of poor performances and results.

Jose Mourinho is said to be the front-runner to take over at Old Trafford in the event of van Gaal’s sacking but young keeper Pereira refused to discuss the rumours.

“Honestly, who talks most about this are the newspapers, the players don’t,” Pereira said.

“Our manager now is van Gaal, who has lately achieved better results and has a contract until 2017. It wouldn’t look good for me to talk about other candidates for his place.”

The players have looked zapped of confidence at points this season and it’s hard to believe that they haven’t spoken about van Gaal given United’s awful form.

Van Gaal has an endearing character and he has given supporters some memorable moments during his time in charge but it is clear that he is not the right man to take United forward. It would be hard to imagine him in the dugout for the first game of the next campaign.
