Marcos Rojo wants Estudiantes return after Manchester United

Marcos Rojo has revealed that he wants to return to Estudiantes in Argentina once his contract at Manchester United expires.

Rojo rose through the ranks at Estudiantes before joining Spartak Moscow in 2012.

The 26-year-old eventually ended up at Man United after spending time at Sporting Lisbon. Rojo, whose deal at United expires in 2019, insisted that he will return to his homeland once his career in the Premier League comes to an end.

“I miss the club, my family and my friends,” Rojo said.

“I want to return to Estudiantes once I finish my contract in England.”

It is not unusual for South American players to end their careers in their home country; former United striker Carlos Tevez is now at Boca Juniors while Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero recently revealed his intention to re-join Independiente someday.

However, there is a question mark over whether Rojo will be at United until 2019. He has been injury-prone during his time at Old Trafford and some displays this season haven’t been up to scratch.
