Manchester United scouts to watch Portuguese trio in action – report

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United will send scouts to watch Bernardo Silva, Andre Gomes and Renato Sanches in action for Portugal against Belgium on Tuesday, according to reports.

The midfield trio are all clients of super agent Jorge Mendes, who revealed earlier this season that Man United had a £31m bid for Sanches, of Benfica, rejected in the winter transfer window.

Monaco’s Silva is also said to be on Juventus’ radar while Gomes, whose playing style has been compared to Michael Ballack, has impressed at Gary Neville’s Valencia.

The match was supposed to have taken place in Brussels but was cancelled following the terrorist attacks in Belgium last week before being reinstated but switched to Portugal.

This summer is set to be an interesting one in terms of incomings and outgoings at United, particularly with the strong rumours that Jose Mourinho is set to replace Louis van Gaal.

Despite spending upwards of £250m since van Gaal took charge, it is clear that United need reinforcements and it is good to see that the club are being proactive about the situation.
