Ander Herrera and Ashley Young coming back for Man United

Ander Herrera and Ashley Young are both coming back for Manchester United to boost Louis van Gaal‘s squad options.

Young has spent a substantial amount of time out injured ever since hobbling off against Liverpool at Anfield and took part in a Reserves game during the international break to continue working on his fitness.

As for Herrera, I believe his absence was due to illness rather than injury but he’s one player we always badly miss when he’s used correctly.

Speaking about the duo on Friday, van Gaal said: “Ander Herrera and Ashley Young are coming back. Young and Adnan Januzaj played with the Reserves in a match on the Friday of the international break.”

We’re not going to bang the Herrera drum any more. Everyone is well aware how influential he can be in our midfield and now that Morgan Schneiderlin is starting to look settled, hopefully Herrera can find a place in midfield with him, especially now that Bastian Schweinsteiger is out for the season.

Young has a tougher challenge ahead following due to the good form of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard as he’ll have to fight his way back into the team. I like Young and think he’s a decent option to have in the squad, so it can only be a positive thing having him available for selection.
