Louis van Gaal expects Daley Blind to be fit for Tottenham Hotspur

Louis van Gaal expects Daley Blind to be fit for Tottenham Hotspur next weekend but admitted he was exhausted after a long run of games without a break.

Blind went off with around ten minutes to go after he went down holding his hamstring leading to some concerns among Manchester United fans because he was having a superb game against Romelu Lukaku.

It sounds like Blind’s withdrawal was more precautionary than anything and van Gaal expects him to be fit for Spurs but will give him some time off this week.

Speaking after the game, van Gaal said: “Daley Blind has played every match this season more or less. He is at the end of his strengths, so I’ll give him two days off and he’ll be OK.”

While David de Gea might be considered the frontrunner for our Player of the Year, I think Blind has to be nominated at the very least. He has been fantastic this season in an unorthodox position and I hate to think where we’d be in the league without him because he’s been crucial.

Today was a really hard task up against Lukaku but Blind controlled him with consummate ease and hardly broke a sweat over the 80 minutes. I’m definitely glad to hear he’ll be OK for Spurs.
