Morgan Schneiderlin is aiming to score his first Manchester United goal at Old Trafford as soon as possible, hopefully against Everton on Sunday.
Man United are looking to close the gap on the teams above the in the Premier League with back-to-back wins after the 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium two weeks ago.
Schneiderlin played a crucial role in that game and although goals are not a usual part of his game, he’s desperate to open his account in front of the home fans at Old Trafford.
“I have my fingers crossed that I will score my first Old Trafford goal as soon as possible,” Schneiderlin said ahead of the clash with Everton.
“I’ve had a few chances in the last couple of games, but I need to capitalise on one and I’m going to try to score at Old Trafford as soon as I can.
“When I first came, I had big expectations, of course, I wanted to play for the title and I wanted to, straight away, have a big impact on everything.
“Since the weeks have gone on in the season, I’ve felt better and better and, of course, I know I have plenty more to show to everyone and plenty more in my locker. I know I will do it because I’m confident of my abilities.”
Over the course of 20 Premier League appearances this season, Morgan Schneiderlin has an average passing accuracy of 89.7%.
Schneiderlin doesn’t have to score goals to contribute to the team but when you’ve got goalscoring midfielders it can make the world of difference. Those late runs into the box can be such a dangerous asset to have and I’d love to see him get on the score-sheet this Sunday.
It’s been a so-so year for Schneiderlin for plenty of different reasons but looking ahead to the last few games, he needs to be starting every single one of them and cementing his place as our first choice midfielder which he absolutely deserves to be. Scoring a hat-trick against Everton would go some way to doing that.
