Manchester United’s Anthony Martial not fussed if Jose Mourinho becomes our new manager

Anthony Martial has claimed he is not paying attention to rumours that Jose Mourinho could replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United this summer but will be unmoved if it does happen.

Martial has been in excellent form under van Gaal this season, scoring his 13th goal in all competitions against Everton on Sunday.

However, performances and results have been disappointing at Old Trafford and widespread reports have suggested that Mourinho is set to take over at the club next term. Martial insisted he is only focusing on paying van Gaal back for the faith he has placed in him.

“As long as the current coach is there, I don’t think about it,” Martial said.

“If Mourinho must arrive, he will arrive… for the moment the coach is still there. Every coach has their good and bad sides. Van Gaal has given me a lot of confidence and I try hard to pay it back to him every day.”

Mourinho has been strongly linked with a move to United and it would be difficult to imagine the players not getting caught up in the speculation.

The hope is that they don’t get too distracted as United still have their FA Cup run and top four ambitions to think about. The situation should become a lot clearer once United wrap up their campaign.
