Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Denis Irwin believes Jose Mourinho would understand and respect Manchester United’s philosophy of bringing through youngsters into the first-team. A number of breakthroughs onto the senior side including Marcus Rashford have been one of the biggest positives this season for fans but there are concerns Mourinho wouldn’t do the same if he became manager.

Dutch newspaper are reporting that Louis van Gaal has rejected an offer to become the KNVB (Dutch FA) director of football. They also suggest what happens between now and the end of the season will decide his future at United to see if the club wants to keep him until the end of his three-year contract.

Ian Wright believes Man United should sell Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian in favour of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Luke Shaw when all of them are available. In a dull season, the emergence of lots of Man United youngsters has been a shining light for both the club and fans.

Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is expected to speak to Man United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward this week to seek assurances that his client will become the next manager of the club, according to the Manchester Evening News. Van Gaal is under pressure at Man United but reports in recent days suggested the Dutchman is confident of being at the helm next season.
