Man United have been in advanced talks with Feyenoord over the Dutchman and the move is set to be completed soon.
Chong, who can play across the front three attacking positions, has been on United’s radar for a number of months.
Chelsea and Arsenal were also said to be keen on the youngster but United have stolen a march on their rivals.
Chong had previously stated that he wanted to stay at Feyenoord and progress into the first team but the progress of Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah has convinced the player to make the switch to Old Trafford.
United have been busy in terms of youth recruitment and development in recent months. Players such as Rashford, Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson have impressed in the first team and the likes of Regan Poole and Matthew Olosunde have been added to the academy.
