Morgan Schneiderlin has insisted that there is still plenty of room for improvement from him at Manchester United.
Schneiderlin joined Man United from Southampton last summer but the Frenchman has been in and out of the side under Louis van Gaal.
The stats show that United are a more potent force when Schneiderlin is in the side but he has still struggled to hold down a regular place. However, the midfielder believes his form is improving.
“When I first came I had big expectations and, of course, I wanted to play for the title and I wanted to have a big impact straight away on everything. It’s a new philosophy and a new thing to take on board,” Schneiderlin said.
“I had some good games and a good spell but there’s a lot of competition and so even in my time when I didn’t play every game I was still learning, still trying to improve and doing my best. Since the weeks went on in the season I’ve felt better and better and of course I know I have plenty more to show to everyone and plenty more in my locker.”
Schneiderlin isn’t the sort of player to steal the headlines or produce a match-winning moment but his contribution in the middle of the park cannot be understated.
The Frenchman’s tidy passing and tough tackling gives United a solid platform to build on and it is no surprise to see that the team have performed better with him in the side. Hopefully he keeps his place for the clash against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
