Real Madrid have offered Manchester United the chance to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, according to Sport.
Ronaldo’s contract at the Bernabeu expires in 2018 and Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly keen to cash in on the 31-year-old this summer to avoid his value falling next year.
Man United signed Ronaldo as a youngster from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 and the Portuguese developed into one of the finest players in the world before his exit in 2009.
Ronaldo’s age may be a problem for United in terms of re-signing him but the player has a famously high work ethic and he undoubtedly has a number of years left at the highest level.
It would be hard not to get swept up in the romanticism of a return to Old Trafford for Ronaldo and the stadium would be buzzing if he were to ever line up in a red shirt again.
But a transfer would be very difficult to pull off logistically and it will take a big effort from both parties if they want it to happen.
