Thiago Silva urges Paris Saint-Germain to extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract amid Manchester United interest

Thiago Silva has urged Paris Saint-Germain to tie down Zlatan Ibrahimovic to a new contract amid transfer speculation surrounding the Swede.

Ibrahimovic, whose deal at PSG expires at the end of the campaign, recently revealed his intention to leave the French club.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be among those interested in the striker but Silva believes his teammate should stay at the Parc des Princes.

“Ibra is invaluable for our team; opponents struggle to get him under control. He’s simply too clever and his moves are very intelligent,” Silva said.

“Some argue that he’s getting old, I would rather say he’s experienced. If I were the club president I would extend his contract for one or even two years. He’s like no other, unique. Even at 34 he’s got a huge passion for football.”

It looks for all the world that Ibrahimovic will leave PSG but it is not unheard of for players to use transfer speculation from elsewhere to get a better deal at their current club.

The likes of Thomas Muller and Dani Alves have been linked with Man United before only to commit their futures to Bayern Munich and Barcelona, respectively. It remains to be seen what will happen with Ibrahimovic.
