Jose Mourinho is said to be the front-runner to replace van Gaal at Old Trafford in the event of the Dutchman’s exit and Ibrahimovic has often sung the former Chelsea manager’s praises.
Ibrahimovic may well get his wish as United’s 3-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur last time out ramped the pressure up on van Gaal.
The result cut United further adrift in the race to finish in the top four of the Premier League and it would be hard to imagine van Gaal sticking around for another season.
