Louis van Gaal has praised his Manchester United players following the 2-1 win over West Ham United in the FA Cup on Wednesday.
Van Gaal was impressed with his players but insisted that better finishing could have killed the game off earlier.
“We played defensively very well. We didn’t give so much away,” he said.
“They lost the ball a lot of times and I believe with a bit more composure we could have finished it much earlier.
“I said at half-time we had to show composure in the third and fourth phase. We did that better but I still believe we could have finished the game earlier.
“[Winning the FA Cup] is not important for me, it is important for the club, for the players and for the team. I said I wanted a title and I am very happy but it is very important for the club.”
United are now going to Wembley to contest a Cup semi-final and they will hold high hopes of winning the competition outright.
Winning some silverware would certainly be a welcome scenario for United supporters, who have had to endure some torrid performances from their side over the course of the campaign. But there is still a lot of work to go yet.
