Marouane Fellaini produced an excellent performance in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over West Ham United in the FA Cup on Wednesday and will be hoping to keep his place in the side for the clash against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Fellaini gave Man United an excellent platform to build on at Upton Park and the Belgian eventually grabbed his side’s second goal. He has been oft-maligned this season but Fellaini will hope he has impressed Louis van Gaal enough to start against Villa:
Against West Ham, Fellaini was aggressive and pushed forward quite often with Michael Carrick sitting deep and West Ham’s poor build-up play meant our midfield was able to cope. Up against an Aston Villa side who will be relegated if they lose to United, we should be able to exert that same dominance.
Elsewhere, Timothy Fosu-Mensah is likely to start having enjoyed another excellent performance against West Ham. The young Dutchman was an assured presence on the right hand side of the pitch and he kept Dimitri Payet quiet.
Marcus Rashford too will want to continue in the side after scoring an outrageous, curling effort against West Ham. It was quite the evening for the two young men.
