Timothy Fosu-Mensah has thanked Manchester United’s medical team after helping him complete 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over West Ham United in the FA Cup on Wednesday.
Fosu-Mensah played in both full-back positions over the course of the tie at Upton Park as Man United booked their spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
The 18-year-old, who was doubtful for the game against West Ham after picking up a knock in the defeat against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, praised the club’s physios.
“I think the physios did a very good job to get me fit and I played 90 minutes so I’m happy,” Fosu-Mensah said.
“I went from right-back to left-back and I do my best in every position and just do what I can for the team.”
Fosu-Mensah is a ‘proper’ defender in the way he is physical and aggressive in the challenge.
The youngster has a tendency to lose his man due to lapses in concentration but that should be eradicated over time. Fosu-Mensah should be delighted with his introduction to first team affairs and Louis van Gaal deserves credit for placing faith in him.
