Rashford took his tally this season to seven goals in all competitions with the strike against Villa, despite only making his debut for Man United in February.
The spotlight has been firmly on Rashford in recent weeks and Mata believes that he is deserving of all the praise that is coming his way.
“He has to be in the box because every time he is in the box, he scores,” Mata said.
“He is helping us with goals and movement and we are very happy with him and all the players who are coming through the Academy. Especially for him though, as he is in a good run of goals and hopefully he can continue to score goals until the end of the season.”
Rashford’s goals have been even more remarkable as they have come at important moments in big games.
His goals have helped United triumph over Arsenal at Old Trafford, contributed to his side’s progression to the FA Cup semi-finals and relegated Villa. It is a superb run given his age and relative inexperience and the best thing is that his fairytale is showing no signs of slowing down.
