Louis van Gaal has always used Manchester United’s continued support as justification for his regime but tonight was the biggest indicator the tide has turned.
Old Trafford was awash with empty seats in what I think must be the lowest Premier League attendance for some time. I know a few people who were being offered free tickets because there was simply so many going spare that nobody wanted.
Is this the biggest sign so far that Man United fans have lost patience with watching van Gaal’s side? After a dreary 1-0 against Aston Villa, can you really blame them?
Up next for United is a trip to Wembley and there certainly won’t be any empty there with over 30,000 reds making the trip down to London but a semi-empty Old Trafford is a very strange sight to see.
