Queiroz refuses to say whether Sir Alex has said anything about Mourinho

Carlos Queiroz has refused to comment on whether Sir Alex Ferguson had told him anything to do with Jose Mourinho and his potential move to Manchester United.

Having worked as Sir Alex’s assistant through his most successful period which included the UEFA Champions League and Premier League double in 2008, Queiroz has a close relationship with Fergie and ties with Portugal through his birthplace and the fact he managed them for two years between 2008-2010.

So, he may well know something about Mourinho but when asked if Sir Alex had told him anything about whether Jose is coming to United, Queiroz said: “These things I can not say. The conversations between friends are to remain private and confidential.”

Just like United, Queiroz has decided to stay out of the speculation surrounding Mourinho but it doesn’t come as much of a surprise does it? Even if Fergie and him had a three hour conversation about all the wines they could share with Jose next year, he’d hardly go and tell that to the press.

Another day goes by and yet more speculation about Mourinho, it’s all getting somewhat repetitive at this stage but with a minimum of five games to go in the season so far, we’re probably still going to have to wait until May to find out. Although, maybe there will be confirmation either way before then.

I do imagine Sir Alex might have a conversation with Queiroz about Mourinho though so I think it’s fair he was asked and the fact he didn’t deny them only lets the speculation intensify a bit more.
