Daley Blind has revealed that he has been “really pleased” to see Timothy Fosu-Mensah emerge at Manchester United this season.

Fosu-Mensah has enjoyed a promising debut campaign for Louis van Gaal’s side this season, putting in a number of top performances at centre-back and right-back.

Blind, who has been playing alongside Chris Smalling in central defence over the course of the campaign, praised Fosu-Mensah.

“Tim is a big talent and also from Holland so I talk a lot to him,” Blind said.

“We were at the same youth academy [Ajax] and that will help him even more. I’m very happy that he’s doing so well. He gives everything in every game and there is a lot to come from him. He needs to keep going now and stay strong and we will help. I’m really pleased for him.”

Fosu-Mensah is a huge talent, whose speed, strength and talent on the ball is remarkable given his age and relative inexperience.

It has been fantastic to see him, along with Marcus Rashford, come through the academy and flourish in the first team. Both players will no doubt have bright futures ahead of them and van Gaal deserves credit for placing his faith in the duo.
