Manchester United have confirmed their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s £70m-rated striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of the summer transfer window, according to MailOnline.
Aubameyang has enjoyed a sparkling campaign for Dortmund this term, scoring 34 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side.
Real Madrid and Chelsea are also chasing the Gabon international’s signature but Man United are particularly keen on securing his signature having scouted him for two years.
Louis van Gaal’s long-term future at United is unclear but a change in management would not affect the club’s pursuit of the forward.
Aubameyang has previously spoke of his desire to play in both England and Spain but Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel may fight to keep him as Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels look likely to go to Manchester City and Bayern Munich, respectively.
United have also been strongly linked with move for Benfica’s Renato Sanches and Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The club certainly have the funds to secure a deal for Aubameyang but a move may be dependent on whether the club secures a top four finish in the Premier League as attracting the top players is much easier with Champions League football guaranteed.
