Manchester United have a firm interest in Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
However, the player’s agent is reportedly set to meet officials from Juventus and Napoli this week.
Gomes, 22, is considered to be one of the brightest young talents in Europe having featured 34 times for Valencia in all competitions this season, scoring four goals.
The Portuguese is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes and Gianluca Di Marzio claim that he will fly to Italy on Friday to discuss a move with Juventus and Napoli.
It appears that Man United will need to move fast if they are to solidify their interest in Gomes, although Mendes was reportedly in Manchester this week to discuss Renato Sanches’ mooted switch to Old Trafford and further talks may have taken place then.
United are clearly on the lookout for midfield reinforcements as they close in on a deal for Sanches.
Michael Carrick is entering the twilight of his career, Marouane Fellaini splits opinion and Bastian Schweinsteiger has proven to be injury-prone. United need a dynamic, mobile midfielder or two to inject some life into the middle of the park at Old Trafford and Gomes could be the player they are looking for.
