Marouane Fellaini and Robert Huth have been charged with violent conduct by the FA.
Both players were involved in an incident during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the weekend when Fellaini lashed out at Huth with an elbow after he had his hair pulled.
An official statement from the FA read as follows: “Marouane Fellaini and Robert Huth have both been charged for alleged acts of violent conduct which were not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
The Manchester United midfielder and Leicester City defender were involved in an incident in the 21st minute of their game on Sunday [1 May 2016].
Both players have until 6pm on Wednesday 4 May 2016 to reply to their charge.”
The charge means Fellaini will miss the rest of Man United’s season as a violent conduct charge is a three match ban. If he was to appeal the charge, that could increase to four which would rule him out of the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on May 21.
As Huth and Fellaini have both been charged I think this is pretty fair from the FA. Fellaini has been swinging his elbows all season and getting away with it, so it was inevitable this would happen but I’m glad to see Huth hasn’t got away with causing the incident by needlessly tugging on his hair.
