Marouane Fellaini and Robert Huth banned for three games by FA

Marouane Fellaini and Robert Huth have both been banned for three games by the FA after accepting charges of violent conduct.

The two were caught in an incident during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the weekend as Fellaini lashed out with his elbows after Huth inexplicably pulled his hair.

Although Huth contested the standard three match ban was ‘excessive’ given the context of the incident, Fellaini accepted his without charge and will now miss United’s games against Norwich City, West Ham United and Bournemouth.

It’s no surprise to see that Fellaini did not contest the charge because had he lost that appeal he would have got a further extra game ban which means he’d have missed our FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

Given his relationship with fans after his performances this season, not every United fan is too upset to hear Fellaini is banned for three matches but as he showed against Everton in the FA Cup semi-final, he can be dangerous if used correctly. Unfortunately for him, and United, Louis van Gaal instead played him as a central midfielder more often than not.

In his absence, Morgan Schneiderlin should have an uncontested spot in the midfield which is great news and hopefully we might start seeing more of him alongside Ander Herrera which I am convinced is our strongest central midfield pairing available at the moment.
