Here’s what Louis van Gaal had to say in his press conference ahead of Norwich this weekend.
Louis van Gaal has indicated he will rotate Manchester United’s squad this weekend for our game against Norwich City. Marouane Fellaini‘s suspension means van Gaal will definitely have to make a change in midfield and the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Daley Blind have played a series of consecutive games so could well do with a rest.
The Dutchman insists Fellaini only has himself to blame for his three-match suspension. The 28-year-old accepted a violent conduct charge for elbowing Leicester defender Robert Huth during United’s Premier League draw and will miss the final three games of the league season.
Norwich need a win this weekend having slipped to 19th in the Premier League, but van Gaal continues to see growing speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford and every win is vital. West Ham are just one point behind United and have their own top four hopes, van Gaal claims the club must win more of their away games.
United will not only have to win at Carrow Road but also have to win at West Ham and in their final home game against Bournemouth. Asked whether City’s defeat to Real Madrid last night will have any effect on United’s fight for a top four place, he admitted the target has not changed.
