Barcelona have identified rumoured Manchester United target Renato Sanches as a possible replacement for Sergio Busquets, according to MailOnline.
Sanches has been strongly linked with a move to Man United and reports recently suggested the club and Benfica were in negotiations over a deal said to be worth £46m for the 18-year-old.
But Barcelona have targeted Sanches as they look to ease the burden on Busquets. The Catalan club are keen to add alternatives to their squad who would enable them to rest Busquets at crucial points over the course of the campaign.
Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl and Nacional’s Sebastian Perez are also said to be on Barcelona’s radar.
United appear to have put in a lot of the groundwork for a deal involving Sanches and it would be disappointing to see Barcelona swoop the Portuguese from under their noses.
A number of players, including Eden Hazard and Raphael Varane, have reportedly been close to joining United before moving elsewhere and the club cannot afford a repeat situation if they are to reestablish themselves among Europe’s elite once again.
