Anthony Martial is set to miss Manchester United’s crucial game against West Ham United on Tuesday night but is hoping to be fit for the club’s final league match of the season against Bournemouth, according to The Telegraph.
The Frenchman picked up an injury during the warm-up before kick-off at Carrow Road on Saturday and has not been passed fit for the visit to Upton Park on Tuesday night.
James Ducker says Martial will be tested throughout the week as United aim to get him fit for Bournemouth but van Gaal is wary of making the problem worse and admitted he wouldn’t take any risks in Martial’s situation.
It’s a tough situation to be in but risking Martial ahead of our FA Cup final is not something van Gaal or any other manager would do, so leaving him out is the safe option but we’ll struggle in his absence.
He has been one of the few bright sparks since his arrival from AS Monaco last summer and missing our leading goal scorer would be a big blow for our Champions League qualification hopes as we head into a tough game against Slaven Bilic’s side.
Without Martial against Norwich, United were nothing short of awful in attack. There was little to no movement from Wayne Rooney so fans were desperately hoping to see Martial back in team at Upton Park. Marcus Rashford should be back in team which is good news but being without our top scorer at this pivotal point in the season is the worst possible news ahead of our game against West Ham.
