Timothy Fosu-Mensah misses West Ham game through injury

Timothy Fosu-Mensah missed Manchester United’s crunch game with West Ham tonight at Upton Park through injury.

The 18-year-old defender was one of our best players in our FA Cup quarter-final replay a few weeks ago where he kept Dimitri Payet very quiet.

In his absence, Marcos Rojo played at left-back but I’m hoping Fosu-Mensah’s absence was more precautionary than anything serious because he’s been outstanding at full-back whenever he’s played for United.

Fosu-Mensah is certainly one of the most exciting youngsters who Louis van Gaal has brought through and there really is a bright future for the Dutchman ahead of him.

Bournemouth next weekend is our final Premier League game next weekend and maybe that will come too soon for Fosu-Mensah but his main focus will be on the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

He played in the semi-final and was harshly taken off at half-time by van Gaal but on an occasion as big as that, I’d much rather see Fosu-Mensah start ahead of Rojo.
