Jose Mourinho has revealed he will be managing a new club within the next two months and says he will sign a new contract by June 30.
The Portuguese boss has been strongly linked with the Manchester United job to replace Louis van Gaal this summer after an abysmal campaign at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal’s future at the club looks uncertain with a fourth-place finish in the Premier League now out of their hands. To qualify for the Champions League next season, United need to beat Bournemouth and hope Manchester City lose to Swansea on the final day of the season.
Speaking about his return to football, Mourinho admits he’s happy to take his time.
“In July, I will be back. So we are in May. May to July is nothing,” he said.
“I keep enjoying my life which I’m doing, keep enjoying my family. But in July I am back.”
Asked when he needed to sign a contract by, Mourinho responded: “June 30, that’s fine.”
Mourinho’s comments suggest he’s patiently waiting to hear from United and I hope we don’t let him slip away underneath our noses as there aren’t many alternatives for United in terms of appointing a new manager.
He’s is one of the only viable options to help take us forward as Mauricio Pochettino recently signed a contract extension committing his future to Tottenham Hotspur until 2021.
With the end of the campaign approaching and Mourinho’s deadline to sign a new contract revealed, United need hold talks with the Portuguese boss as fans have made it clear they don’t want van Gaal in charge at Old Trafford next campaign.
