The Frenchman has been directly involved in 24 goals during his debut season at Old Trafford with 17 goals and seven assists across all competitions in a stunning campaign.
Martial aside, United showed little urgency and quality to suggest they were a side worthy of finishing in the Premier League top four in their 3-2 defeat to West Ham at the Boleyn Ground. He managed to score twice against Slaven Bilic’s side, but it wasn’t enough to claim all three points as he was let down by the rest of the team.
Talking about Martial’s future, Shaw believes he has all the qualities to become one of the best players.
Martial is always incredibly calm in front of goal when United need it the most and is definitely destined to go all the way to the top, as Shaw suggests.
The 20-year-old has underlined his quality as one of the world’s best youngsters and against West Ham he proved he was on a different level to his teammates. He’s been one of the single positives to take from a disappointing season under Louis van Gaal and watching him progress in England is extremely exciting for United fans.
The Frenchman single-handedly gave the club a chance of finishing in the top four, and although we didn’t take it, we still have a chance of winning some silverware this season with the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace approaching.
If he can be this good in his first year at Old Trafford, I can’t wait to see him with a few more years experience under his belt.
