Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
The Colombian international hasn’t been able to keep a regular place in the first-team this season and has found himself on the bench for the majority of the campaign. He enjoyed a very successful start to his career with the Spanish giants but hasn’t been able to replicate his success in his second year.
Man United have allegedly tracked Rodriguez for a number of years but lost him to Madrid when he opted for a move to the Bernabeu instead of Old Trafford in 2014
Speaking about his future, Balague hinted Man United are keen on luring Rodriguez to Old Trafford.
“All I do know is that Manchester United would like James,” he said.
“The player wants to go. He is determined to go so we will see what price Real Madrid will put on him.”
Balague, who was the first to confirm Angel Di Maria’s move from Madrid to Manchester in 2014, has also previously reported Madrid would be open to selling Rodriguez for the right price in the summer should such an offer come their way. That being said, he’s had his fair share of reports which have proved to be wide of the mark as well.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is more than likely to be desperate for a marquee signing this summer as he is every summer, so somebody like Rodriguez is a move that would be right up his street.
It is believed that Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes has been in talks with a number of clubs over a potential transfer and we’ve got a close relationship with Mendes, so maybe United are one of those.
