Chris Smalling, Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney have been named in Roy Hodgson’s 26-man provisional England squad for Euro 2016.

Manchester United’s 18-year-old forward Rashford is the surprise inclusion after making his first-team debut in February against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.

The uncapped youngster’s impressive form this season has seen him fast-tracked into a group of forwards along with Harry Kane, Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy which means Jermain Defoe, Andy Carroll and Danny Welbeck miss out.

Rooney, Rashford and Smalling will now all play in Hodgson’s friendlies against Turkey, Australia and Portugal before the tournament in hopes of not being cut out of the final squad.

Man United’s Michael Carrick and Phil Jones have both been left out of the squad by Hodgson so there are only three United representatives in the England squad
