Rashford burst onto the scene at Man United at the start of the year, scoring a pair of braces against FC Midtjylland and Arsenal.
The 18-year-old hasn’t looked back since, scoring eight goals in total while establishing himself as a key member of the side. Pereira was full of praise for Rashford.
“I think he has the potential to be a superstar,” Pereira said.
“He is very young, but has a lot of talent too. If he keeps playing this way, with this hunger for goals, and stays humble and learning things, I think that he can be one of the best in the world.
“Everyone at the club knew he was a good player, very talented, but it was a surprise when he stepped in and scored four goals in his first two games. No one even expected that he would play, so it was very surprising even for us who knew him.”
Pereira must have a certain degree of envy while watching Rashford; he has gone from strength to strength in a remarkably short space of time at United while the Brazilian has stagnated.
Heading to Wembley for the FA Cup final, Rashford is set to lead the line for United and that’s a huge thing for an 18-year-old born and bred Mancunian. He’s such a joy to watch and alongside Anthony Martial is our main goal threat and has been for some time this season.
There is no doubt that Rashford will establish himself as a mainstay in the side in years to come but it is not immediately clear how Pereira will force his way in.
There have been reports that Pereira’s attitude is not up to scratch and he could certainly look to Rashford as an example of a young player who simply knuckles down and takes his opportunities when they come to him.
