Memphis Depay was pictured celebrating with his Manchester United teammates in the wake of their FA Cup final victory on Saturday despite suffering the disappointment of missing out on the matchday squad.
Van Gaal reportedly told Memphis he would be excluded from the squad at Wembley earlier this week, a decision which angered the youngster.
But he looked in a good mood during the celebrations after the full time whistle as Man United got their first taste of silverware under van Gaal:
Memphis would have been understandably disappointed but he cannot have too many complaints with being left of the squad.
He simply has not been good enough at any point of the season, save for a couple good displays in Europe.
Jose Mourinho, set to be announced as van Gaal’s replacement at United on Tuesday, may galvanise Memphis but the outlook is not good for the Dutchman in terms of his long-term future at Old Trafford. The best thing he can do, if he does stay, is to get his head down and let his feet do the talking.
