Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal waved to reporters as he was leaving Carrington this afternoon after what may prove to be his last visit to the training ground.

Van Gaal arrived at around 8.45am, with Gilroy, who negotiated David Moyes’ severance package two years ago following about an hour later. Gilroy then left Carrington at around 3.30pm, with van Gaal also departing at around 4.45pm.

The Dutchman’s departure has been widely anticipated following Saturday’s FA Cup win over Crystal Palace, with reports suggesting Jose Mourinho would be replacing him just hours after the win.

Reports say United are due to speak to Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes about replacing van Gaal on Tuesday and before they announce his appointment they must make van Gaal’s sacking official.

That is what we are currently waiting for having had confirmation from The Guardian, BBC, The Telegraph and many more outlets. At this point, it is only the club who haven’t released any statement yet.
