Jose Mourinho has identified his transfer targets ahead of his imminent move to Manchester United, with Andre Gomes, Joao Mario, John Stones, Alvaro Morata, Mauro Icardi and Ezequiel Garay all on his wish list, according to the Guardian.
Mourinho is expected to be announced as the new manager of Man United this week following the sacking of Louis van Gaal, who was relieved of his duties on Monday.
The Portuguese’s arrival will signal a major revamp of the squad this summer, with a minimum £150m spend expected.
Juan Mata, however, could face an uncertain future at Old Trafford as Mourinho sold the Spaniard to United while at Chelsea in 2014.
United enquired about the availability of Juventus pair Alex Sandro and Paul Pogba but the Italian club quoted them £116m each, a price designed to end any interest.
Mourinho’s expected arrival will be a big boost for United in terms of their attractiveness to new recruits and it will be interesting to see who does end up at Old Trafford. Van Gaal has left behind an imbalanced squad which will undoubtedly need improving in the summer.
