Carlo Ancelotti believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would inject experience into Manchester United’s squad if he was to make the move to Old Trafford this summer.
Ibrahimovic has been strongly linked with a move to Man United in recent weeks, with incoming boss Jose Mourinho keen to reunite with the Swede at Old Trafford. The pair won Serie A together with Inter Milan in 2009.
Ancelotti, who will take over from Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich next term, backed Ibrahimovic to be a success at United if he did make the move.
“I think he [Ibrahimovic] is not young but still fit,” Ancelotti said.
“He has a real winning mentality. Maybe Manchester United need this kind of player with experience. They are all young.”
Marcus Rashford did an excellent job of leading the line this season but Mourinho will be keen to add options up top.
Aside from Rashford, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are left as the only real options to play up front. But Rooney is enjoying a new lease of life in midfield and Martial has impressed on the left wing.
The combination of Ibrahimovic and Mourinho would certainly bring a ‘fear factor’ back to Old Trafford, which will be a welcome change for supporters following a few seasons of mediocrity.
