Tonight’s international round-up might be discussing five players but there is one who stole the show and the headlines – Marcus Rashford.
The 18-year-old scored just three minutes into his England debut and continued his dream season. By doing so, he created a phenomenal statistic – Rashford scored with his first shot in the Europa League, the Premier League and for England this season. What a player he is looking already at such a young age. Deservedly, he was named man of the match.
Somebody else who looked sharp for England was Wayne Rooney who came off the bench and scored a blinding goal to put England 2-0 up. He was limping later in the second half but ran of the impact injury. Well done Wayne. Chris Smalling also played but had a very quiet game, unlike his replacement Eric Dier who scored an own goal within 90 seconds of coming on. Whoops.
Memphis Depay played just over an hour in Netherlands 1-1 draw with Republic of Ireland out on the left-wing. Minutes is what he needs in these friendlies ahead of his break this summer as Netherlands are not in Euro 2016. Daley Blind was not part of their match day squad.
Paddy McNair played the full 90 minutes in midfield for Northern Ireland in their 3-0 win over Belarus and is continuing to improve his prospects of starting for them at Euro 2016. What a big moment that would be for him.
