It was a whirlwind Friday for Jose Mourinho being announced as Manchester United’s new manager but there’s no rest for the wicked as he’s getting straight down to work.
With Euro 2016 and Copa America tournaments this summer, there isn’t much time for Mourinho to work on transfers or to get time with his players ahead of the new season and so he’s hard at work planning to make the most of it.
He shared a picture of his plans on Instagram this morning with the caption: “Back at work.”
Typically, Mourinho is a manager who, like Sir Alex, likes to get his transfers done nice and quickly in the summer so as to not be left rushing at the end of the window like David Moyes and Louis van Gaal found themselves. However, the international tournaments do make it somewhat difficult to get deals over the line.
That being said, he’ll no doubt still be pushing to get things resolved as quickly as possible and there is also a suggestion he wants to change United’s pre-season tours to get a bit more game time in seeing as we only play a few games out in China.
The excitement to see Mourinho as United manager is palpable and now he’s getting down to business it might not be long before we see some changes in terms of the squad. Exciting times are ahead.
