Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke hopes one of Jose Mourinho’s first tasks as manager will be to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford.
Mourinho and Ibrahimovic have remained very close after spending a year working together at Inter Milan, where they went on to win the Serie A title.
Speaking about Mourinho, Yorke insists if he can lure Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford it’d be a huge step in the right direction.
“He seems to get better with age and he is relishing the opportunity of playing in the Premier League,” he said.
“He’s been everywhere else and I am sure he would love to finish his career at Manchester United if given the chance.
“If Zlatan joins Manchester United under Mourinho I think it will be a huge step in the right direction to make Manchester United the No 1 club in the country once again.”
Zlatan has allegedly been considering an offer from a Chinese Super League club worth over £53 million over two seasons and United wouldn’t be prepared to match that. But, he has been clear money won’t effect his judgement at this stage of his career and a reunion with Mourinho at Old Trafford could be on the cards.
He’s already expressed his interest in working with Mourinho once again and with the Portuguese boss completing his move on Friday it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer for discussions to begin between both camps.
The Swede left a huge hint in his press conference on Thursday afternoon and I can’t wait to see him in action in England. Despite criticism from some fans over his age, he hasn’t shown any deterioration in the latter stages of his career and the fact that he scored 50 goals in 51 games across all competitions last campaign, which was his best record to date, proves he still has plenty to give in the Premier League.
