Manchester United have submitted an offer in the region of £15m for West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford, according to The West Ham Way.
Oxford, 17, enjoyed a breakthrough season under Slaven Bilic at West Ham during the 2015/16 campaign, making 12 appearances in all competitions.
The youngster is highly rated, and West Ham have offered him a new deal, but his agent is holding out for more money and terms are yet to be agreed. Oxford’s current contract has two years remaining.
Man United and new boss Jose Mourinho are long-term admirers of Oxford, who primarily plays in defence but can also feature in midfield.
The news will serve to dispel rumours that Mourinho is not interested in young players as it had been a concern prior to his arrival at United.
Oxford is clearly a talent, but United supporters may point to the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe as youngsters who already at the club who should be given priority. That being said, United should always be looking to bring the best players to Old Trafford.
