Jose Mourinho has claimed that he will not sign any players from Portugal for Manchester United this summer.
Man United have been strongly linked with moves for Portuguese duo Andre Gomes, of Valencia, and Joao Mario, of Sporting Lisbon.
It is unclear whether Mourinho meant Portuguese players or players from Portuguese clubs but the comments, made at a lecture in Portugal, still come as slightly bizarre as he begins his reign as United boss:

United have also been linked with moves for the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Raphael Varane.
It will certainly be an interesting summer in terms of incomings and outgoings at Old Trafford and it is odd for Mourinho to appear to rule out players from Portugal.
If he isn’t interested in players such as Gomes and Mario, it is unclear who exactly United are targeting. The hope for supporters is that Mourinho has clear targets in mind as United’s imbalanced squad is in need of improving ahead of the next campaign.
