Fosu-Mensah, 18, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign during the 2015/16 season under Louis van Gaal, impressing in the first team at right-back and centre-back.
Mourinho has developed a reputation over the course of his career as a manager who neglects youth but Fosu-Mensah believes that he is capable of making an impression during the reign of the Portuguese:

Fosu-Mensah’s speed, power and technical prowess meant he stood out during his appearances in the first team last season. And he did it against the best sides, too, with superb displays coming against West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and on his debut against Arsenal.
Mourinho will be fully aware that he needs to continue United’s tradition of nurturing youth and it is likely that Fosu-Mensah will be involved next season.
The Dutchman has everything needed to develop into a good player and the hope is that Mourinho gives him a platform to flourish.
