Manchester United’s Daley Blind confirms end-of-season injury

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United’s Daley Blind has confirmed that he is suffering from a “small” injury as his season draws to a close.

Blind picked up the knock during Man United’s FA Cup win over Crystal Palace at Wembley.

The Dutchman has been unable to feature for the national side in their friendlies recently and Blind sent a message to fans to say that he is now focused on the next campaign:

There have been reports this week that Blind, along with Juan Mata, is not in the plans of new United boss Jose Mourinho.

Blind played at centre-back during the 2015/16 season under Louis van Gaal but it is clear that the player is not a natural defender.

It is unlikely that Mourinho will keep him there next season and, with United linked with a number of midfielders such as Andre Gomes, it is unclear exactly how Blind fits into the side next season. But he has proven to be a more than capable utility man during his time at Old Trafford and you would think that he would be a useful player to have in the squad.
