Jose Mourinho to pull out of Soccer Aid – report

Jose Mourinho has pulled out of a planned appearance as manager of an England team at Soccer Aid this weekend in order to focus on his commitments with Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Mourinho was set to take charge of an England side which included Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler at Old Trafford but the Portuguese is aware that the charity event, in aid of UNICEF, may have been overshadowed by his presence in the dugout for the first time.

Sam Allardyce, who had been due to assist Mourinho for the fixture, is set to take over instead.

Meanwhile, United have put no pressure on Mourinho to pull out as they are mindful that the clash will benefit charity.

It will be a shame to not see the new United boss involved with Soccer Aid but the decision to be absent is probably a sensible one to take.

Excitement surrounding Mourinho is at its peak as he has finally took charge of the club following months of speculation and being at the event would have distracted from its true goal – to raise money and awareness for UNICEF.
