Ryan Giggs has not yet been offered a new role at Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.
Reports earlier in the week suggested the club offered Giggs a role designed to bridge the gap between the first team and Under 21s, Sky sources suggest this information is inaccurate.
His future has been uncertain since Louis van Gaal was sacked at Old Traffrod as Rui Faria is set to take the No 2 job at Old Trafford, a position previously held by Giggs.
He is understood to be disappointed he was overlooked for the top job once again after serving under van Gaal for two years, with a year left on his contract he could be looking to end his 29-year association with Man United.
It’ll be sad to see him leave the club but if he wants a chance at managing the club one day he needs to pick up some experience elsewhere. He’s a legend at the club and it would be a shame to see his time as assistant manager go to waste but the appointment of Mourinho was necessary as United started to go backwards under van Gaal.
It’s clear he wants to become manager but he needs a CV to match his desires, with Mourinho coming in he’ll have a long wait ahead of him if he decided to stay at the club but he now has a brilliant opportunity to learn from one of the best managers in the world.
He’ll know the club inside out making more appearances and winning more honours than any other player in the club’s history and there’s no doubt there will always be a place for him even if he does decide to leave.
